Food that is great for your cocktail party would be mostly finger foods. No big clean ups, and they can be prepared before everything gets started.
It is a wise choice to have some napkins or paper plates also. This way they can mingle while they snack. And still not much clean up involved.
Make sure that you have chosen a food that you are familiar with, and a food that can be made ahead of time. You should not have to slave in the kitchen when you are hosting a fun filled cocktail party.
This did not help me repair my credit report but it was a lot of fun.
