A Look at Ways to Obtain Festival Tickets Using the Web and Second Hand Agents
February 7th, 2011It’s been said that I am a festival devotee. I don’t mind the trouble of awful conditions should I be lucky enough to see my cherished band. I’m forever ready to do battle with the elements with my festival tents and other accouterments. All the same, there’s incessantly one thing that causes me sleepless nights.
It’s constantly been difficult to get your hands on a ticket for a concert or a sports event. So how on earth can someone who’s in full time employment get to purchase a ticket if they sell out so fast?
They have to buy one second-hand.
In the dark days prior to the internet, you had to purchase your second-hand ticket via a dodgy tout at the actual event. This meant paying over the odds, or even possibly given fake tickets which would inevitably be recognized as such as you entered the event – meaning you not only miss the music gig or sports event, you’ve lost a load of money in the process.
Nevertheless, things have gotten much better for music and sports fans. With much thanks to the internet, the secondary ticket marketplace has improved remarkably in the last decade. Now there is a huge amount of competition to resell tickets on the internet, the industry has actually become self-regulating. You’re offering the ticket for HOW much?! I’ll buy cheaper on another site. And so many ticket agents offer insurance if the event / gig is cancelled. And with tough competition online, secondary tickets have come right down in price to the point that sometimes you’re not paying much more than the actual initial price of the ticket.
Even though there is stiff rivalry between second hand ticket sellers, we think this is an essential way for honest music/sports lovers that were prevented from purchasing a ticket in the first place.
